Dyslexia is Exciting!

Teaching and learning with students who are dyslexic is full of wondering, questioning, problem solving, learning, celebrating and reading fun.

Please consider a regular or even weekend time set aside for family reading. You can read with your child, have your child read next to you while you read something too. Encourage your child to read books that are 'just right!' These are books that are not too easy and not too hard. Read a variety of type of books too.

I am joyful to hear about students who read for fun for 20-30 minutes each day!

I am at Deretchin every Monday through Thursday from 7:44-11:10 AM.

I work with student groups in the Library to provide instruction for students with dyslexia.

In the afternoons, I provide dyslexia interventions to another CISD campus.

           As a Reading Intervention Teacher...

I provide a multi-sensory, systematic approach to learning to read for students with dyslexia. Conroe Independent School District implements the Neuhaus Basic Language Skills program which is based on the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching students with dyslexia.
    

My Responsibilities
I work with the staff, students and families at Deretchin Elementary as the campus' Reading Intervention Teacher to ensure that all students with Dyslexia are learning, growing and having fun as readers. We work together to maximize each student's academic achievement.  

My Attitude on Learning
I am dedicated to teaching and enjoy the process of learning.  I value our collaborative efforts as it is through this team work that students thrive. It is my goal that each student can enthusiastically say, "This is the best year ever!"







I bring enthusiasm, compassion, humor, patience, expertise and dedication to my instructional groups of students.   Each student is unique and I honor their strengths as assets to their learning.
